Different areas to fish

Hey guys, welcome back. In this blog I will be giving you guys a few different options and places to fish. All of the options I will be covering today are going to be located in or near the San Marcos area, but I will drop a link in the end that will direct you to a page where you can find lakes, rivers, ponds etc. available to fish at in all of Texas. If unfortunately you are reading this and not from Texas, stay tuned for all my other blogs because they will be for everyone regardless location.

Rivers to fish

So lets start off with rivers available to fish in near the area. With this location being primarily bodies of river water, you probably already know most of the areas, but just in case lets go over some.

The San Marcos river is the biggest convenience for me and is actually one of the main reasons I resigned at my apartments I am currently living in. The best way to fish this river is by floating it on rafts. If you didn’t want to float the river you could also put in at different areas such as Stokes park. My apartments are right beside where the river flows so I walk down to the river and put in, but if I’m not catching anything I walk right behind my apartments to Stokes Park and drop a line.

The Blanco River is another option for river fishing here in San Marcos. Like I stated before it is best to fish while floating down the river, but finding a deeper part of the river to put in is fine too, just make sure you have the right bait on your line ( we will talk about different types of baits in a later blog.. stay tuned).

Lakes to fish

When it comes to lakes, there are quite a few in the area. Though you may have to do a little bit of traveling and boating to get out on the lakes, it always worth it for a good day of fishing.

Lake Dunlap is located in Guadalupe county, just outside of New Braunfels. This lake is filled with Guadalupe bass, striped mouth bass, crappie, catfish and most popular fish large mouth bass and sunfish.

Lake Austin is also a good lake to check out. Located in Austin this lake is good for fishing Grass carp, Blue Catfish, Bluegill and most popular Largemouth bass. If ever over there to fish, check out Lake Travis as well as it’s known for fishing too.

Ponds to fish

Last, but not least is a pond in the surrounding area available to fish. Ponds are super convenient and an easy to cast a line without the hassle of loading a boat up or renting a raft to float down stream.

Fischer pond lake is located in New Braunfels at the park. They stock up the pond annually with Channel catfish, help with your first time fishing and have outstanding reviews, so if you are big into fishing for catfish and goo time I definitely recommend checking out this pond.

Till next time
