Types of bait

Hey guys, I hope your Sunday is going great and you’re relaxing. Maybe you are out with the family at the lake or cooking or maybe, just maybe, you are out fishing! If it is fishing you’re out doing today, I hope you are rippin’ lips left and right, but if you’re not then maybe you need to read into today’s blog post for some tips. In today’s’ blog we are going to be covering different types of baits for different types of fish. I am going to be covering my top three fish I personally like to fish for: bass, catfish and carp so let us get started. but if you have other questions about different fish don’t be afraid to leave a comment.

Carp bait

For carp bait, the most successful bait and highly recommended in my opinion and experience is yellow corn from the can. The yellow color of corn is important because it draws the attention of the carp fish. Corn from a can specifically is important because the salt and sugar sweetness from the juices it is emerged in gives off an aroma to get the fish biting and keep them coming back for more.

Another successful bait for carp fishing is tiger nuts which can be purchased at whole foods store or Walmart. Before using tiger nuts for bait, you must prep them which means soaking them for 24 hours, bring them to a boil for 20-30 minutes and then for extra juices, letting them sit for 24 hours.

Other baits good for carp fishing include: hemp, fluorescent pop-ups and pellets.

Catfish bait

There are many different options for catfish bait to choose from and there are also specific types of baits for specific types of catfish you might be trying to catch, so keep that in mind when going to fish.

A great, cheap and common catfish bait that can be found at your local grocery store is chicken liver. This is really good when trying to catch decent size blue and channel cat. The best way to use this bait is by changing your bait every 15 to 20 minutes because around the 20 minute mark the juices are gone and the bait is not as appealing to the fish.

Another great bait is your basic earth worm or also know as night crawler. Since the beginning of time earth worms have been around so some people like to over look them because of all the advances in baits now, but the earth worm is one you can’t go wrong with when fishing for any type of catfish. I tend to get mine from academy because they have good size worms and when you are fishing for catfish, the bigger the worm the better!

Other catfish baits include: craw-fish, shrimp and, strangely, marshmallows.

Bass bait

Bass fishing is a little different because this is where your artificially made baits come into play. When bass fishing I have personally had the best luck using the items pictured above. That artificial worm is called “green pumpkin magic” and it never lets me down. The spray beside it is a garlic spray that goes on the bait which gives a garlic scented aroma off in the water to attract the bass and it is honestly just as important as the bait itself.

Another bait I turn to when bass fishing are jigs because of the many bass I have caught while using one. There are different types of jigs to use such as football jigs, flipping jigs, and the most popular “archie” jig.

Other baits that are successful when bass fishing are top waters, spinner baits, crank baits, other plastic worms and many more.

Bass fishing is my favorite type of fishing and if it’s yours as well, follow this link to be directed to a very informational and awesome website specifically for bass fishing baits.

Later baiters

So I tried with that title, but yeah.. it’s a little corny. Anyways, this is probably my favorite blog post I have written so far because personally I love going and buying bait before heading to go fish because not only do I buy ones I have used in the past, but it gives me a chance to check out new options.

I hope this information given in the blog is useful in some way and maybe helps you in your future fishing endeavors. If you have other questions about different fish bait or comments about my information, don’t be afraid to leave a comment below in the comment section.
