I hope all my previous blog post are being beneficial to you guys and your fishing days are looking up and if not.. there is always tomorrow! I have went, in previous blogs, areas to fish, tips on fishing reels and baits so I figured it’d be beneficial to let you guys know a few regulations to watch out for before casting. In this blog we are going to go over a few fishing laws and tips that could come in handy when out on the water.

Fishing license

A fishing license is a requirement in the state of Texas. A license is required before casting a pole out into open waters so before going out to cast make sure you got a license on you so that you don’t receive a ticket. Each state has it’s own individual rules about fishing license and regulations which can be found here if you want to know more details about a certain state and requirements.

There are many different fishing licenses one can purchase, just make sure you know which one you need before purchasing. These can be purchased in many places like Academy, online, Walmart and more.

Regulations

Some of the time you can get away with dropping a line in at places and not having to worry, but sometimes there are certain restrictions. A fine can be given if one is fishing on private land into open waters with no license and a fine can also be given if one is fishing on private land without asking permission of the land owner.

When going out onto a lake to fish, always take your license and check the sign they have posted about the amount of fish you may take from that lake and any other details because if you don’t follow those rules and get caught that could lead to a large fine as well.

Overall

There aren’t too many things to worry about when fishing, just don’t forget about those few that can end up ruining a good fishing day. Fines can range from 25$ to 4000$ depending on what type of charge they give you and the suspension or revocation of your fishing license for up to five years and nobody wants that.

I hope these tips help you and keep you from getting a fine when fishing because honestly who wants to have their day of fishing ruined with a ticket. Be a safe and smart fisherman out there, until next time guys!
